Political and economic integration, mobility, migration and multilingualism raise the question for intermediary organizations of who can actually still mediate between cultures. Digitization is a particular challenge in this case. It has a tendency to bypass go-betweens and intermediaries, indeed to make them superfluous. What effects does this all have on intermediary institutions like the British Council or the Goethe-Institut, which are concerned with cultural dialogue?
