The growth of the world population towards 10 billion over the next 50 years will significantly increase the demand for food, water and energy, but these 3 necessities are frequently in competition with each other. In this talk, I’ll discuss a pathway forward for balancing these 3 critical resources, while preserving our other natural resources and reducing the impacts of climate change. Science on Tap, held monthly at the Crepe Place in Santa Cruz, features scientists from UCSC who will present their work and engage in discussions with the audience in a relaxed setting. The informal talks are aimed at a general audience, including nonscientists and people not affiliated with UCSC.
