Simon has been a fighter for human rights since his student days in the 80's. In 1992 Simon co-founded the help organisation "People in Need" (PIN) as well as "Epicentrum" the newspaper covering conflict areas around the world. Today he runs PIN programs including humanitarian development and human rights offices abroad and in Czech Republic with globally employing over 800 people and has an annual budget of 30-40million USD. Alongside his work in PIN Simon is involved in various organisations influencing governments to improve and develop cooperation and democracy. Simon has co-directed 5 hour documentary series about Stalinism in Czechoslovakia, Human Rights in Bosnia, Lebanon, Kosovo and Tibet. Simon has received several awards; noticeable European Hero in 2003, Post Bellum Award CZ 2010. Simon speaks fluently 5 languages, Czech being his mother tongue. www.peopleinneed.cz
