Dr. Michael Ali is the Chief Digital and Information Officer for Omega Engineering, a Norwalk-based global manufacturer and distributor of sensing devices and systems. As part of a digital transformation strategy, Omega is designing, building, and deploying new platforms for eCommerce, CRM, and product information management, and business intelligence. Dr. Ali is responsible for master data management, Industrial Internet of Things strategy and cloud implementation, and IT infrastructure and applications. Previously, he served as the CIO for W.W. Grainger, a $10B distributor of MRO products. During his tenure at Grainger, he championed the application of deep-layer neural networks to upgrade and replace the product substitution engine on the corporate website, and led an effort to define a new information architecture for customer information using semantic metadata. Prior to Grainger, he was the Sr. VP of Application Development and Program Management for US Foods. In this role, he developed an architecture and strategy for a new eCommerce platform and led a business intelligence (BI) initiative requested by the CEO to address pain points around data reporting discrepancies and lack of BI sandboxes for business use. Prior to US Foods, he served as the CIO for Harman, where he installed new platforms for eCommerce, PLM, and ERP. Prior to Harman, he was the CIO for Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR). Prior to joining JLR, he held management and engineering positions in Ford, GE, NASA, and NIST. Anne Vranicic is the vice president of marketing for Valin Corporation, a leading technical solutions provider located in San Jose, CA. She is an eBusiness, data, and marketing strategist and evangelist who is particularly interested in bringing sexy back to the wholesale distribution industry. At her position, Anne is responsible for digital strategy, marketing communications, ecommerce, pricing, data analytics, training and sales development. Holding a B.S. degree in Marketing and Economics from Elon University and an MBA from San Jose State University, Anne has more than 15 years of professional experience in wholesale distribution. During this time, she has witnessed the industry evolve exponentially. Utilizing this first-hand knowledge, Anne’s mission is to address one of the largest challenges she sees in the industry today-- that most distribution businesses are operating on a static model and not properly equipped to meet the needs of their employees, customers or manufacturers. Her approach is to first understand the business, and then digitally connect it in order to build the right conversations across the supply chain. Chris Rooney is the President and Founder of Digital Bridge Solutions and has over 15 years of distinguished consulting and leadership experience. Chris oversee's all aspects of the company's operations for this full-service digital agency focused on B2B eCommerce. Prior to founding Digital Bridge Solutions Chris was a Director at Acquity Group, where he led the eCommerce Managed Services group, providing hosted eCommerce and content management solutions. Chris has worked extensively on digital strategy and tactical execution with clients such as Hawk Electronics, Martin Engineering, GI Supply, Saltworks, and AmeriPride Services. 25 years of technical, consulting and leadership experience in enterprise architecture planning, commerce strategy, product evaluation/selection, software development and technology implementation/support.
