About

In our rapidly-changing world, designers, UX teams and our organizations need to be resilient in order to survive. In this talk, Kathryn will discuss how we can find inspiration in nature and learn from the proven solutions all around us. There have been many examples of biomimicry used successfully in product and service design but does bio-inspired thinking help in the design of software systems and how re manage our organizations? Kathryn’s particular area of interest is in collaboration between Teams and how organizations use collaboration tools across distributed teams, many of whom may never have met in person. She will draw on her own experience as a remote worker based in Dublin, Ireland working with her team who are predominantly based in California and the work being done at Cisco looking at Collective Intelligence across large-scale distributed organizations. KEY TAKEAWAYS -> Nature has been through 3.8 Billion years of R&D and there is so much we can learn from the solutions all around us -> You will find out who earth’s greatest collaborators are and what are the factors that make them so successful. -> The study of super-organisms can help make our society, organizations and teams more resilient -> You will learn how and where to ask ‘What would Nature do?’
