Julie Nowak

Julie is leader of Citizens’ Climate Lobby’s (CCL) Lake County, Illinois chapter, which she co-founded when she retired from paid employment in 2014. She has also served as CCL Liaison to both a Republican and a Democratic Representative for Illinois’ 10th Congressional District –despite her prior disdain for all things political. Julie worked as an analytical chemist the first third of her 32-year career, before earning board certification in Industrial Hygiene, Comprehensive Practice, and switching from the bench to the field. Julie was the first in her family to earn a college degree, a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Marquette University. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Industrial Health from the University of Michigan ten years later. Many years in ballet gives her the perspective that arts and sciences can more than coexist, leading her to say her teacher certification in Rommett Floor-Barre® is applied ergonomics for dancers (and others).
