Voice has hit the mainstream. It has never been easier to create voice interactions for users. Amazon’s platform enables third parties to access the benefits of voice by developing Alexa skills, with which users can perform actions ranging from ordering a pizza to dimming the living room lights. There are thousands of Alexa skills available, and new skills are being added all the time. As UX practitioners, how can we use this technology to offer experiences that truly enhance users’ lives? What are the use cases where voice really shines? How do we adjust our design solutions and deliverables from graphical user interfaces (GUI) to voice user interfaces (VUI)? And most importantly, how can we make use of the principles of human language and communication in order to design experiences that people can use naturally, without having to learn and memorize a new set of conventions for interacting with this new interface? In this session, Blink UX partners with Amazon to explore the user experience of voice interfaces, with a specific focus on designing third party skills for Alexa. http://conveyux.com/
