About

In this presentation I will present an overview of the research on Holotropic Breathwork that I´ve been conducting during the last ten years, between 2007 and 2016. I will present the different studies that I´ve been conducting and the main results of each of them, including: 1) two studies with similar methodologies exploring the effects of Holotropic Breathwork (HB) on levels of distress, meaning of life, death anxiety and personal orientation in the context of a weeklong workshop, using a pre-post test design with three follow ups; 2) a study exploring the subjective effects of Holotropic Breathwork in different contexts (including daylong, weekend and weeklong workshops), specifically looking to the occurrence of mystical experiences, using the States of Consciousness Questionnaire (SCQ); 3) a study comparing the subjective effects of Holotropic Breathwork and different psychedelics, specifically looking to the occurrence of mystical experiences, using the States of Consciousness Questionnaire (SCQ).
