About

ConveyUX is a series of events, produced by Blink UX, of interest to user experience professionals. www.conveyux.com The technology we use every day knows a lot about what we do—what we click on, where we go, who we follow. But so far, it doesn’t know much about how we feel. That’s changing. The convergence of affective technology, machine learning, and ubiquitous computing makes designing for emotion more important than ever. We’ve always had an emotional relationship with our internet things, whether we think of our phone as an extension of our self, a chatbot as a best friend, or a robot as a beloved pet. A decade from now, emotional interactions are likely to become the norm. We may not remember a time when we can’t just frown and our devices know that we’re dismayed. So, as emotion-sensing technology is moving from an experimental phase to reality, what does it mean for how we design technology? How do we design AI that has empathy for us? In this session, we will look at where emotional AI is now and a framework for inventing an emotionally intelligent future.
