Israel's medical cannabis program started at 2008 as a compassion project, where the first growers supplied cannabis for patients for free. Eighteen months later a flat fee per patient per month was set, regardless of quantity or form of products, and this is still the way Israeli system operates nowadays. Canndoc is one of the pioneers in Israel, started operation almost 10 years ago, embracing key principles: reliability and integrity, quality and innovation in cultivation and dedicated service to its patients. Canndoc provides dozens of thousands of cannabis doses each year to its patients directly to their homes, or if needed to their hospital departments. In 2013 an Israeli Medical Cannabis Unit was established (a governmental agency) which started to regulate the whole industry, and its aim was to divide the future Israeli Cannabis industry into five segments: a breeding farm, a production farm, a processing factory, a logistic center and the last link: pharmacies. 2018 will most likely be the year that medical cannabis will be sold in Israeli pharmacies for the first time, and later it seems that export will be possible. While understanding the regulation, the needs of the patients and the physicians, Canndoc has taken steps to become a leader in the cannabis arena. Canndoc’s farm is managed in a strict manner (under GAP standard), starting from the plant propagation materials (tissue culture) to a finished "cannabis product" that can be sold in pharmacies. Canndoc has been conducting research projects with the leading Israeli universities and advanced research institutes in the fields of cancer, epilepsy, autism, and other medical conditions, and at the same time cooperates with local startups. In this lecture, we will describe the evolution of the Israeli industry over the last decade and the steps taken by Canndoc to become a leading player in the Israeli Medical Cannabis arena. ............................................................................................................
