Facebook, GitHub, and many other large companies have migrated to using graph-based web APIs instead of traditional REST APIs. GraphQL is a structured query language that allows engineers to create explicit models of their underlying platform and use that model as their API. In this talk, we’ll cover the basics of GraphQL and discuss the benefits and issues we’ve encountered when implementing a GraphQL API for the big data platform at Netflix.
