Eyes are designed to see, tongues to taste, and ears to hear but we do not have an organ designed specifically for our sense of time. Until now. Meet Neil Harbisson, a cyborg developing an organ to allow him to feel the passage of time in his body. How does it work? Come and see. Neil had an antenna permanently implanted into his skull that allows him to perceive colors despite being colorblind from birth. He thus became the first human that was officially recognized as a cyborg. The technology he developed captures colors using a sensor and interprets them as sound. Not only did Neil acquire the ability to perceive and differentiate colors, but he can now “see” in the invisible part of the spectrum. Neil can even connect to the International Space Station and listen to the sounds of colors from space! He uses his ability to perceive colors in a completely different way to create astonishing works of art and his Cyborg Foundation defends the interests of people who decide to have pieces of technology permanently implemented into their bodies.
By creating Future Port Prague together with our visionary partners, we want to help people and businesses in our region better understand this phenomenon; not just the technology, but the deeper societal changes that will require a rethinking and rewiring of our business models and environments, our education systems, and most importantly our own mindsets.
