He worked at daily Lidové noviny as the head of the Média a komunikace (Media and Communication) supplement and the magazines Pátek and Esprit. Jan also worked at Mladá fronta where he led weekly media and marketing periodical Strategie. He founded the trade publication Právo & Byznys (Law and Business), an “intelligent lifestyle” magazine called ZEN, and he led the periodical Formen. Jan also created the Chinese language publication Esence – Pražský magazín (Essence – Prague Magazine), authored the futurological book “Průvodce budoucností” (A Guide to the Future), and co-authored “Dítě v síti” (Children on the Network).
