About

What is the state-of-the-art artificial intelligence research today? How close are we to building robots smarter than humans? Is AI the technology that will destroy us, or save us? Let’s address these and similar popular questions from the perspective of a research scientist at Facebook AI Research. Tomáš currently works as a researcher at Facebook AI Research, but he first drew attention to himself as a university student when he achieved a breakthrough in how computers process natural language. He presented models of language based on recurrent neuron networks that describe the structure of language much more precisely than previous approaches. He worked at Google Brain where he created a model for transferring words to a vector map that dramatically improved speech recognition and automatic translations. Tomáš thus became one of the scientists that was able to dramatically improve the performance of Google’s translation functions. His vision is that people in the future will be aided by efficient personal assistants built on artificial intelligence.
