This keynote discusses how your team and you can come back strong after a public and painful security incident. It starts with an introduction to holidays/vacations, and how that relates to security incidents overall, and then moves into specifics about our own public incident last year, using the public information about the incident here (https://segment.com/security/bulletins/incident090519). Then, it moves into the human pieces, such as the major emotional / energy toll a big incident takes on you, your team, and every other team involved in the mitigation and cleanup; it also touches on addressing your customers and the public. The keynote then moves into assessing the damage outside company systems (i.e. the humans involved), and covers how you can help repair that damage to stay inspired, energized and focused. This is necessary in order to move forward and emerge better (with that fighting spirit) from the incident. For Security leaders in particular, adjustments will need to be made on your approach, roadmaps and language. Security leaders, after they're recovered, will need to capitalize on all the bad things that have happened, and the result of that work will help the company grow and mature after such a major event.
