Christophe Boesch

Christophe Boesch is a Franco-Swiss behavioral scientist. Since 1997, he has been director of the Department of Primatology at the Leipzig-based Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology and, since 1999, honorary professor at the Institute for Zoology at the University of Leipzig. Boesch studies the behavior and lives of chimpanzees in the Taï National Park in order to better understand human evolution, especially the emergence of human cognitive and cultural skills. Outside academic circles, Boesch is best-known for his studies of tool use in chimpanzees.
