Juha Leppänen specialises conceptual analysis and understanding socially important trends in the context of sustainable lifestyles, global change, new forms of social solutions and the media. In addition communications and social sciences, Juha has a background in semiotics and philosophy, as well as the methodologies of futures research and system dynamics. He has also studied the importance of arts education in the overall development of society. Juha is one of the founders of Scoopinion, a start-up that promotes quality journalism and won the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation’s 2011 Innovation Contest. His experience as a start-up entrepreneur is reflected in his work at Demos Helsinki – he’s worked, for instance, with Peloton Club, an energy-smart start-up peer incubator. This incubator model helps teams exploit their expertise to develop start-ups that will help solve the greatest challenges of our time. The Club is a continuation of Peloton Innovation Camp, a concept that Juha also helped to develop.
