Dr. Michael Londesborough was born in London and graduated in Chemistry at the University of Leeds, where he also obtained his Ph. D. For the last fourteen years he has worked as an independent researcher at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the Czech Academy of Sciences. He is an expert in the field of the boron hydrides and their application. Besides his research Michael has been doing a lot for popularization of science and was awarded with the Czech Academy of Sciences President medal for work in science popularization. And Michael also happens to know what is going on in our bodies when we fall in love. Using William Shakespeare’s sonnets and the law of thermodynamics, he explains that when it comes to love we seem to be at the mercy of our biochemistry and our DNA’s strategy to pass on its genetic code. Or is it something a bit more romantic than that?
