Ping Sheng

Professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology | Prof Ping Sheng is currently the William Mong Professor of Nanoscience and Chair Professor of Physics. He obtained his BSc in Physics from the California Institute of Technology and PhD in Physics from Princeton University in 1971. He is in the research of electrokinetic pumps, the theoretical and experimental investigation of superconducting materials, and use of acoustic metamaterials for energy harvesting from noise. He has published more than 430 papers with a total of over 16,000 citations, and an h-index of 70 (Google Scholar). He has presented over 290 keynote, plenary or invited talks at international meetings and conferences. He also has published one monograph and has over 20 US patents. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a Member of the Asia Pacific Academy of Materials. He was awarded Technology Leader of the Year by the Sing Tao Group in 2002 and the Brillouin Medal by the International Phononics Society in 2013. He is a member of the editorial boards of New Journal of Physics and Solid State Communications. He is also a Division Associate Editor of Physical Review Letters.
