Splitting in time schemes: from fluids to phase-field models

Francisco Guillen-Gonzalez, Universidad de Sevilla, Spain In this talk, we will see some relationship between splitting in time schemes of projection type applied to fluids (decoupling computations from velocity and pressure in the Navier-Stokes problem) and some recent splitting in time schemes applied to complex fluids (decoupling the fluid part from the phase-field one). Some applications to complex fluid models will be presented, like nematic liquid crystals (which can be seen as vectorial Navier-Stokes-Allen-Cahn systems) and two immiscible incompressible fluids (which are Navier-Stokes-Cahn-Hilliard systems).
