Ways to measure compactness

Jan Vybíral, Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Prague, Czech Republic We describe several different ways to measure compactness, including entropy numbers, approximation numbers and Gelfand and Kolmogorov widths. We give an overview of these concepts in connection with Sobolev embeddings of Sobolev, Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces.
